History:
Colin Archer, the constructor of the well-known, beautiful and strong pilot cutters with gaff rigging, is the theme of this suite. Risør has a long tradition of building wooden boats. In the fjords and on the islets there has throughout the years been built many a sailboat. Risør still has some boat builder's yards for wooden boats in Buvika and Moen. The wooden boat festival is arranged in Risør every year on the first weekend of August. In the inner harbour in Risør one can see the sailing boat Risør II, a restored masterpiece that is hired out for different occasions.
