The house is popularly referred to as "The Yellow House", "the Vatican," or "the old seaman's house." The suite is situated on the house's ground floor with a view towards the small boat dock in Buvika. Pleasant garden with ocean view and multiple outdoor sitting areas. Parking and boat docking available. Short, scenic walk along the shoreline and Risør's harbor to the town square, approximately 600 meters.

Newly restored suite (2003) in a protected house from the 1750s. In Risør most houses are worthy of preservation, but only three including this one are actually protected by law. For long periods of time in the twentieth century the building housed retired seamen. Today the building consists of four suites (the Captain Suite and the Mate Suite on the ground floor, and the Boatswain Suite and Sailor Suite upstairs). The Captain Suite is approximately 45m2. Impressive, full kitchen with all modern conveniences. Bathroom with heated tile floors and shower cabinet. TV with twelve channels, CD player, and a maritime book collection. Bedroom with fine quality queen-sized bed and curtains. There is an extra hide-away bed in the living room. The suite is furnished with light antique birchwood furniture fit for a captain. The suite is non-smoking.

The Captain's historic role:
The Captain is the "chief executive officer" onboard. His word is law! There were large class gaps onboard ships. The captain spent his time in the lounge, the most sacred of sacred, with his first mate, chief engineer, and steward. He ate at a decorated table with tablecloth and fine china, often with a girl serving him. Also his cabin was far more luxurious than all the others. Indeed his role as the top authority onboard could at times be quite lonely and isolated.
