Welcome to Det Lille Hotel – a hotel with soul and history, in the middle of the idyllic southern town of Risør. Our passion for Risør’s rich maritime history, old antiques, wooden houses and decor, is the foundation of our unique hotel. From January 1, 2019, we are proud members of De Historiske Hotel og Spisesteder – a collection of Norway’s most charming and unique hotels and eateries. With us, nothing is like an ordinary hotel. We are now looking for a skilled and committed hotel manager who can lead and further develop our small and unique hotel.

Job duties:

As Hotel Manager at Det Lille Hotel , you will have overall responsibility for the daily operations of the hotel and for creating an unforgettable experience for our guests. You will lead a dedicated team that shares our passion for history, service and quality. Your duties will include:

• Management and development of the hotel's employees, including recruitment, training and motivation.
• Responsibility for finances and budget follow-up, as well as ensuring good performance targets.
• Overall responsibility for guest satisfaction, quality assurance and continuous improvement across all departments.
• Responsibility for marketing and sales, including collaboration with local players and development of packages that promote Risør's historical and maritime environment.
• Implementation of strategic initiatives to further develop the hotel's unique profile as a member of De Historiske .
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the hotel's physical facilities and antiques.
• Reporting to the owners and following up on the business's long-term goals.

Qualifications:

We are looking for you who have:

• Experience in the hotel industry, preferably in a management role. Experience in operating smaller hotels or historic sites is an advantage.
• Financial understanding and experience with budget management and performance responsibility.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a small but dedicated team.
• Knowledge of or interest in the hotel's historical and cultural context.
• Good communication skills in both Norwegian and English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and find solutions in a busy everyday life.
• Education in hotel or tourism management is desirable, but not a requirement.
• Knowledge of Mews and Munu is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Waiters and waitresses

We are looking for skilled waiters who can help give our guests an excellent and memorable dining experience in our two restaurants, Tollboden 1865 and Park Café. You should be friendly, professional and fast, and have knowledge of and interest in what you serve.

At Tollboden we have a fine dining restaurant, Tollboden 1865, which focuses on seafood. We also have a bar and outdoor seating by the waterfront. Breakfast is served here for hotel guests, as well as a la carte lunch and dinner.

Park Café is located in the building next to Tollboden. Here we have converted an old gas station into a modern and rustic gastropub, where in 2024 we expanded the menu with pizza. Park Café is located on the quayside and has a fantastic pier that is very popular with summer guests. Here we have a more informal dining experience, but with the same focus on the quality of the food and service. Both indoor and outdoor seating, lunch and dinner.

• Someone who has the patience and perseverance to thrive in this industry.
• Preferably someone with relevant experience, but you will still receive good training.
• Someone who has a good service attitude, can work in a structured way, take responsibility and is genuinely committed to creating the best guest experience.
• Someone who has good collaboration skills and is solution-oriented.
• It is a plus if you have a good command of spoken and written Norwegian/good knowledge of English.
• Someone who is flexible and can work shifts and/or weekends and holidays.
